Lan Su Chinese Garden:

Lan Su Chinese Garden is an oasis in the heart of downtown Portland. Covering a square city block, this botanical treasure melds a 2,000-year-old tradition with architecture, design, and nature – offering a poetic, magical space for weddings and special events.

Designed to interpret ancient Chinese landscapes the garden features a large rockery with waterfall, representing mountains and rushing streams. Intricate, mosaic pathways weave throughout the garden giving a sense of distance and walking through the countryside. Lake Zither, the pond in the middle of Lan Su, is the soft opposite to stone and rocks providing and illusion of space, offering reflection and a home for goldfish and koi. Chinese gardens prominently feature individual buildings with sweeping rooflines. The magnificent pavilions at Lan Su boast intricate wood work, calligraphy, artwork and furniture. Lan Su contains more than 400 plant species; many rarely seen in cultivation outside of China.
